Default Beachmont

Hi, I'm moving to the Boston area this summer after graduating college and have been looking at different areas of the city...I wrote a post a couple weeks ago asking about the Swampscott area, have drawn my search back closer into the city now and have been looking at Beachmont and Winthrop.

I really would like to be near the ocean, that is appealing to me, and I would also like to have T access. Beachmont seems like a good option for that, but I know it is part of Revere, which I've heard some pretty negative things about. Is Beachmont nicer than Revere or worse than Revere is terms of appearance and safety? Please keep in mind I'm not a rural person, I've spent time in what people would consider rougher areas of both Cincinnati and Chicago and never had any trouble. Thanks!
