Thinking of moving to ten hills, a little pocket neighborhool between mystic ave., the river and rt. 28. Down by the entrance to 93 at Foss Park. Is this a hidden gem, run of the mill east Medford hood, or an area headed down hill? Any current or historical info would be great. Thanks

Default Ten hills

If you like more of an urbanish feel though more residential this would be your spot.

There would be a diverse mix of people and probably majority middle class folks

there are services on Broadway ---

From Google Street View I noticed there is a Star Market in the area a
Brooks Pharmacy a Bakery, a pizza shop
Liquor Store
a barber shop
a sub shop - right next to the barber shop
Primo's Pizzeria
and Optical Eye place
A fish market and butcher shop
Dunkin Donuts
A couple gas stations
An Ethiopian Restaurant
and other small mom and pop type places

the homes are triple deckers for most part or old victorian homes
the area right around Foss Park seems the best, it seems to get a little more run down as you head away from the park down Broadway

Louie's Ice cream is a short drive away as well during the summer YUM!
easy access into Town Via route 28

I believe that Shaw's market is shut down now. however, there's a large Stop and Shop off of McGrath near the highway. I have some relatives over there and AFAIK, they've had no issues (though the younger ones still aren't allowed to hang out in Foss Park too much due the crime issues it had). however, it is a nice park w/ a very nice, often very crowded pool. I personally like the area, and if you don't go too far away from the Broadway/McGrath intersection, it's a pretty decent walk to the orange line (think it took me about 15 minutes from the DD at that spot, give or take)
