^^ You can't go wrong with John's imo. Great grub; if you go (and if they still do it) ask for a dessert sampler, not on the menu but worth the extra couple dollars.

Colterra in Niwot
L'Ateliar is another good place imo - the lobster ravioli and the escargot. Go for lunch instead of dinner.
Mateo isn't all that bad.
Bacaro is 'meh' imo (once they lost our order, and by the time they brought us food (an hour later), it was the wrong dishes) Embarrassed, they comped the meal; there is only so much bread one can eat!
Terrior in Longmont is good.

Best time to do the restaurants in the Boulder area is during First Bite (Bldr's equiv to Restaurant Week).
Damn, I'm hungry now!!

Harpo's has awesome wings.

As far as Longmont goes, there are several real good restaurants that come to mind.
My favorite in Longmont:

Martini's Bistro- Real good italian/seafood. Great ambiance. Located in a converted victorian mansion on 5th and Terry.

Panerra's Bread- Has real good sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. Might be the best place to have lunch.

2 Dog Dinner- A small restaurant in the prospect neighborhood, somewhat of a cafe, has great food.

Petra Mediterranean- This one is a new one and is kind of hidden at the beginning of Ken Pratt in Longmont, next to TGIF and Red Frog. Is my favorite place lately, great food and friendly atmosphere.

If someone already mentioned Salt in Boulder, my apologies. Our current favorite place to eat.

Another fun idea is to check out some of the local farms for a farm dinner.

Expensive:

Boulder Chop House
Salt
Flagstaff

Casual:

Southern Sun (best place in boulder in my opinion)
South Side Walnut Cafe (best place for breakfast, all the locals go here)
Me Casa
The Buff (second best place for breakfast, was featured on "man vs food")
The Dark Horse
