Hi everyone, I will be moving out to Louisville, CO from NJ in early October. I'm getting really excited to get out there finally, but the one thing that's bothering me is the fact that I don't have a job lined up yet. I know everyone says you shouldn't really move without a job, but I'm doing it anyway. I got an opportunity for cheap housing near a friend so I'm taking advantage of it. Anyway, I'm looking for a job similar to one I have now, which is a PC Support Tech. Really any entry/low level IT job would be great. So far I've looked through hundreds of listings on sites like Careerbuilder, Dice, Indeed, etc. I've also looked at most of the entries on Craigslist that I could find. Are there any other places I should look online? I'm hoping to find a smallish company to work for since I don't have a degree in Computer Science. I do have about two years experience with my current job though, so I know I'm able to do my job pretty well.

I'd really like to avoid moving out there without anything lined up at all, but if that does end up happening, are there many job fairs or any places I should go in person?

I guess I should mention that I'm hoping to find a job within about 20 min of Louisville. So as far as I can tell that covers places like Boulder, Longmont, and Broomfield. I don't know the area at all really, so those are the big names I've been looking for. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

You may need to expand the area you are searching to include Downtown Denver. There will be a lot of jobs in Denver Tech Center - these will be way too far from Louisville, and commute will make your life miserable. Downtown Denver is not much better, but doable, especially, if you can take a bus.

On other site I would add is Monster, but really, the ones you listed, especially, Indeed, should cover all the searches I think Indeed pulls from both Dice and Monster.

You said you've looked through hundreds of listings. Have you applied? Without specific degree and with only two years experience you may not be standing out of the crowd, but I would think if you'd start applying you would get responses and interviews eventually.

I've been trying to avoid downtown Denver because of the commute... In my current job my commute is often close to an hour and I want to cut that down significantly if possible. I can't be too picky though I guess, so I'll start including Denver into my search.

I have been applying to a lot of the listings so far. I don't know how many exactly, but I'm hoping that if I keep sending out more and more resumes, eventually I'll hear back and get some interviews. I had hoped my prior military experience would help me out here, but I'm starting to doubt that now.

Thanks for your input though, anything helps!
