My husband and I both work for A locally owned company in Fort Collins. A new store is opening on The Hill in Boulder in the next couple weeks and we've been offered better positions. We are considering accepting the positions but we would have to relocate. I adore this city. How does it compare to Fort Collins? We have 4 children. What city would we be best off in? We are considering Westminster and longmont. Is it a family friendly city? We both attend frcc and would want to transfer to the Westminster campus. Is the commute to this school decent? I have lived in Northern Colorado my entire life and have never spent more than a concert or two in this city. Thanks for all the help!

When it comes to moving to the Boulder area the first question is "What's your budget?".

Is there a reason you are not thinking about transferring to the Longmont campus? If you lived in Longmont the commute to Boulder is very easy up Hwy 119. The campus is on the south side of town.

But as brown_dog_us asked - what is your budget?

Probably not enough to live as comfortably as we do here. We currently have a 4 bed/2 bath home and pay $1500/mont. We would like to stay in the same price range.

The Longmont campus does not offer all of the classes my husband would need to complete his program. He would have to do 2 or 3 on Westminster campus anyway.

Longmont is extremely family friendly. Lots of things to do, endless festivals downtown throughout the summer, any excuse for parades (this weekend's Halloween parade is a fun one), lots of programs through the city's recreational department. We love it.

But frankly, it don't thing it will stack up to Fort Collins for you. It feels like a much smaller town. But I am not a fan of Westminster which feels a bit soulless to me (apologies to those who love Westminster). I love longmont's expansive old town, and we have found a really great community here.
