My teenage daughter needs to go from Boulder to Louisville three times a week. She does not drive, and lives with a relative who can't driver her (I'm in another state). Uber estimates $17-$22 per trip. That could add up to $130+ per week (plus a tip). Trips are in evening, before 6PM and returning after 9PM.

Does anyone know of any reliable, safe alternatives? Buses do not run to where she's going, so that is not an option.

I'm not very optimistic, but thought I'd ask.

Could she take the DASH bus to the Boulder Transit Center at 5th & Spruce, then Uber to/from there ?

How far is it from the bus stop to the destination? Louisville is a very safe city, so walking or biking from the bus stop to the destination would be doable.

Also, are there other kids going to it that she could catch a ride with? I drive 2 kids to swim practice because their parents can't leave work to do it.

OOPS
Looks like I got the directions reversed. But same idea might work. Get Uber from nearest Louisville stop.

OP, the bus in Boulder is very safe and easy to use. Use google maps for directions between the the two locations and click the transit icon. That will tell you the details. Good Luck!

As a Louisvillian, I'd say all are good suggestions. Louisville isn't very big; even if the bus doesn't go right to her destination, she wouldn't have to walk far. Another possibility is for someone to pick her up at her destination and take her to the bus stop for the return trip. Could whoever she lives with could meet her at the bus stop in Boulder on the return trip? As a parent of two daughters, I do get a little concerned about safety of kids being out on the streets in the dark by themselves.

Thanks for all the replies, and pardon my delay, I don't check daily.

The bus stop is about two miles from destination, so walking is probably not an option, BUT you all gave a great idea. The bus stops very near her house in Boulder (Walking distance to that big park on 9th Street), so I can look into her catching the bus and getting off at a central location in Louisville and just taking Uber to/from her final distination. (BTW, destination is Centennial Peaks. Hopefully not TMI.) Uber from her place to CP is going to be a lot, but maybe this will help cut costs.

My long term hope is that she'll meet someone to ride with, either from Boulder, the whole way, or at least to catch a ride to and/or from CP to Louisville.

These replies are very helpful. The final answer may be a combo of all of them, they all help though. Thank you.

Reps on the way! :-)

Given the destination is CP, then consider using RTD's Call-N-Ride service from the US36 & McCaslin station after taking the FF1 bus from Boulder

Read about it here: RTD

OP, now knowing the destination, Call 'N Ride would be wonderful from wherever she gets off the bus in Louisville to CP. I used to work on that medical campus, saw lots of Call 'N Ride buses there.

Thank you both. I am looking into Call n Ride.... The link was not clear to me, but I have local family there who can possibly make more sense of it.
