Anyone have experience -direct or indirect - with Centennial middle school? I've heard generally very good things about BVSD, but this school is rated a 5 on GreatSchools. Just wondering if it is an exception or why it would have such a low rating? I guess I would also have a similar question for other "lower" ranked schools in BVSD.

Thanks for your help in advance!

I don't know very many kids that went to Centennial, but the few who did seem to be fine in high school. Centennial has a higher % of low income students (25%) compared to higher rated middle schools and that impacts their test scores. Also, I think a lot of families that live in the area try to choice their children into one of the "better" middle schools or go to private school, and this tends to remove Centennials best academic students. My youngest child goes to Summit Charter school and there seems to be a lot of kids from that area.

Great Schools and most other schools raters are not very reliable and telling you much of anything aside from income and its correlation with standardized test scores.
