What kind of vehicle do you have? Billion Chrysler was good to me when I was driving a Dodge and Simpson Honda was good when I had a Honda.

Definitely take the Jeep to Billion. If Ressler (I think that was the name of the Toyota dealership) is still around you could look into them for the Toyota.

Go to Foster's Mastertech. They are great, reasonable, and it keeps your money local!

Did you join to post this on two different mechanic threads?

Farr seems really decent and comes highly recommended from this forum as well as folks at various civic groups and church. Word of mouth is always a great bet.

Thanks.

I thought I would post a quick follow-up as so many were kind enough to share their input.

I bought tires at Tire World on Mendenhal. They did a good job and were priced competitively. I will use them again.

I ended up using Farr Automotive for an unexpected and massive problem and they were fantastic. The owner Francis and son Nick did the work and really made a great impression on me with their work. Farr will get my business for my Jeep again.

The next unexpected issue happened with the Toyota product and for that I took the recommendation of a neighbor and went to Rising Sun Toyota. Keith Garcia, the owner did an awesome job troubleshooting a tricky electronic problem and avoided several expensive yet easily justified "additional" troubleshooting hours. The same issue at the dealer would have run at least triple even "if" they would have even pinpointed the problem quickly. This is no offense to the local dealership, just my experience with dealerships in the past. Diagnose, re-test, diagnose, re-test =$$$$$$$$$. Rising Sun will get my business again.

It is usually common to "bash" a business such as a mechanic or contractor for shoddy work or excessive charges, but it feels pretty darned good to share a good experience and thankfully I have had 3 in a row since moving to Bozeman.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

I have to throw a bone to Swift Automotive. Just got done having Matt do a fairly major engine job on my old 200k Outback, head work/gaskets and the normal r&r maintenance that goes along with 200k.

We have been going to Matt and his crew for several years now and have had nothing but good experiences with him. Same for two friends, one of whom I've worked with for over 20 years - he's the guy who recommended Swift's some time ago. I know things can't be right for everyone all the time, but I sure can't complain about the service, quality, and price.

I was a Snap-on tool dealer for awhile, saw quite a lot in the way of shops and personnel. Matt has a nice shop and it is well kept up in the work area.
