We have a possible rental in Melbourne. The house, schools, community, all great. The one issue is that it's backyard has the wall for rt 95. Does anyone have any opinions or exerience with this? Safety? Noise? ( have 3 kods and a dog) thank you

We live down in Jupiter and our development is built along side of "95." There is a 10' wall built along 95 separating the development from the interstate. About the only things the wall does is keep the residents on the other side, obstructs the view of 95 and that's about it!!

We have never noticed an odor, even when traffic is heavy. But, we hear the vehicles on 95 all the time with early morning is the worse.

As long as you are not buying it should be fine.

Is that your only option? The traffic noise might be really annoying when you are having a barbeque in the backyard, or if you have your windows open... and the smell of the car exhaust.

I can only go by what we have here in Metro DC when you live by 95. Even if you are not buying by only renting, life is short and you want to be able to enjoy your backyard!

As long as there's a wall (and maybe a tree line if you're lucky), you probably don't need to worry about the safety factor. There are far easier ways for bad people to get into a subdivision, after all. So it basically comes down to the traffic noise and what you can tolerate. Someone used to city living and its soundtrack probably wouldn't think much of it, but others wouldn't be able to tune it out as easily.

I would say that as a rental, if this house is your clear #1 choice and getting away from the traffic noise means compromising on schools/location/paying more, you can probably live with it. But I could understand it being a negative tiebreaker if you have other similar options.
