I recently moved to West Melbourne a couple of weeks ago and now that the dust has settled with both work and moving, I'm trying to figure out what all there is to do here. I'm an early 20s African-American male with no kids and everything seems more family oriented here. Any insight?

Welcome to Brevard!!

What kind of things do you enjoy? Bars? Water activities? Nature? Animals? Adventure?

I love https://www.treetoptrek.com/?tab=expert & the Brevard Zoo (where it's located) is pretty fun too.

A fun way to stay fit is an indoor rock climbing gym. Many young adults go there Home » On The Edge Rock Climbing

I would suggest searching groupon.com and livingsocial.com and seeing what looks fun.

There is also a website called meetup.com where they have groups and get togethers for any interest you can imagine. If, by chance, you have an interest you can't find a group for consider starting one yourself.

Here are some holiday events going on for the Fourth 4th of July on Florida's Space Coast | Space Coast Events Of coarse there will be kids there too

Hope some of these work for you.

I have a son your age and besides school and work he spends time at Planet Fitness on Apollo and Sarno. There is a men's basketball league at Wickham Park Community Center. The gym is practically brand new and very nice! He likes to play pool at Off the Traxx in downtown Melbourne. There's lots of fishing at the ocean or off the causeway. A fun spot with lots of young people is at the beach in front of Coconuts in Cocoa Beach. We haven't done this yet but would like to rent jet skis. I think there's a rental place in Cocoa Beach. That seems like it would be a good time! He has been looking for a baseball team or softball team but hasn't found one yet, if anyone knows of any bar leagues? Any way I know it doesn't seem like much but hope it helps!!

Will definitely give Coconuts and Off the Traxx a look and I also might have to pick up basketball again. Thank you!

Parking garage next to Melbourne city hall is free, or you can scout out street parking away from new haven which is completely closed down for the festival.

Bars are hopping during that time, check out meg o malleys, matts casbah foobar and Many others

Good way to meet people....take some classes at Eastern State or FIT.

If you have a dog, take him to the dog park at the beach. Always a good way to meet people .

Also, does anybody have any suggestions of restaurants? I'm pretty big on local restaurants all I've really seen around on 192 are chains so that bummed me out a bit. I'm open to anything as far north as Cocoa.

Check out cocoa village and downtown Melbourne. Some decent places in the avenues in viera as well, albeit mixed in with some chains
