What is the most distant radio station you've picked up from somewhere around Greater Buffalo?
My two answers have to be 93Q (Syracuse) and 103.9 The Hawk (London Ontario) Both I heard static-laden snippets of from a location in Niagara Falls.
You need to try AM radio just after sunset, assuming they are still analog signals. As a kid I would listen to Sabres away games on their home station when I could. NYC, Montreal, and St. Louis were all easy to find. St. Louis was particularly strong as I remember. Try slowly going through the dial and listen for sports events, its easier to determine which cities the signals come from by identifying the teams.
Definitely, I've picked up AM stations from as far away as Nashville and Oklahoma City on the AM band at night. 880 WCBS from New York City is on my AM presets in my car. When driving cross country last year, I was able to listen to WGR 550 into Michigan.
Last time I was in Buffalo, the farthest away Station I could hear was out of Toronto, don't remember the name.
