It seems to be falling behind in that regard. Its really unfortunate because at one time it was a crown jewel of healthcare in Buffalo. The Mayo Clinic here in Jacksonville is ranked 27th in the nation. They are building a new cancer center:

Given that people go down there to retire, that isn’t a surprise. I believe Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN is rated even higher, if I’m not mistaken.

Yes, Mayo Rochester MN is rated #3 in the Nation. There are huge donations from grateful patients here. The Mangurians donated 25 million for a new building, the Davis family has been extremely generous as outlined in this article:

The Jacoby family has been generous as well:

I think that the WNY health care system is more important than golf and playgrounds. I think its a big opportunity to revitalize the area especially with the proximity to Canada. If Roswell Park was again, a world class facility it would be a huge boost for the local economy and prestige. It came in 95th on the latest rankings. Too bad they didn't sprinkle some Buffalo Billions on Roswell. The care I received in WNY was less than ideal and I had to travel to Cleveland for major surgery. Look what the Cleveland Clinic has done for Cleveland, a fellow rust belt city.

Who said it wasn’t? Does posting or giving awareness to development mean that health care is negated? No…So, why conflate posting that information means that health care is being put on the back burner?

On the flip side, good for Cleveland, but how do you think health care could improve in WNY?

Spotlight/housing: Home prices are cheaper in Buffalo Niagara: https://buffalonews.com/business/loc...577d86ae7.html

“Home prices across the Buffalo Niagara region have soared over the past decade, but they are still cheaper than most other places across the United States.

The median price of homes sold during the second quarter of this year was $236,800, according to the National Association of Realtors, which compares prices each quarter in 221 of the nation's biggest metro areas.

That put home prices here in the bottom quarter among those top metro areas, with Buffalo Niagara ranking 47th from the bottom, according to a new report released earlier this month.

The report also showed that the rise in home prices is stalling out, with the median sale price here falling by 0.2%, or roughly $400. But that's not unusual. The real estate group said prices fell in a little more than 40% of the metro areas in the survey.

But the lower prices do have some advantages in making homes more affordable, despite the painful spike in mortgage rates. The group estimates that a home buyer in the Buffalo Niagara region needs an income that is about 40% lower to purchase a median-priced home here, than they do nationwide.

That adds up to big money. With a 10% down payment, that's the difference between needing $110,733 in income nationwide to needing an income of $65,755 in the Buffalo Niagara market, the real estate group estimated.”

This map from the source in the article verifies this information when you view the map: https://www.nar.realtor/research-and...-affordability

Great for Cleveland. I think Buffalo's big opportunity is Roswell since its a well known name in Cancer treatment. If some resources were directed here for some state of the art treatments like Proton therapy they could build on that. I believe that Roswell sees Canadian patients now,and since you are always touting the golden horseshoe, there is a lot of untapped potential there.

Good ideas. I agree that the opportunity is there to serve a larger populace, given how many people live within a couple of hours of Roswell.

I do wonder how well the health care is in the Golden Horseshoe in terms of cancer treatment though.
