Did El Camelo yesterday for lunch. It wasnt bad, but I had such high hopes. I am beginning to think "bland" and Buffalo go together. Cheap, service was good. Just didnt like the food. I read a note where it was rated the best mexican in Buffalo.

La Tolteca next. Grandma Mora maybe this weekend.

Luckily heading back to chicago for thanksgiving. 1st on my list is a Taca Langua from El Famous Burrito, then smokin Gyros from Sammys, then a big baby from Nickies, and finally an italian beef/sauaseege combo, with sweet peppers, hot giardinara,"wet".

I went to la galara on transit in lockport, a new mexican restaurant with roots in niagara falls. We had high hopes. Service was great, no horchata (rice water), but had bottled juritos. Lime my favorite. Food looked great, but was lacking critical spices. So, it was a bust for us.

All of our friends rave about it though, saying its D BEST mexican around. So it will be a pleasant experience for you buffalonians.

Tolteca is the best by far. Order carnitas, carne asada and choriqueso (cheese and chorizo dip) and skip the rest.

If you are looking for exceptional? Go to Toronto and get to El Trompo in Kensington. YUM!

Damn, now I need mexican.

Moe's is more of a fast food type place, its OK but not great. 5 de mayo in cheektowaga I was not impressed with that one either. Not great food, and bad service. There used to be a place in Crosspoint Park in amherst that was excellent, but it closed about a year ago.

I'm still looking for decent mexican food.

Just had Mighty Taco- not even close to what real Mexican food is. Also, tried Coyote Cafe, nothing authentic about their "Mexican food" either. I've only been here two weeks so I've been enjoying y'alls subs and pizza but I will find great Mexican food, soon!

Cantina Loco is opening soon on Elmwood & Allen. The chef behind it is one of the region's most respected, so the food should be great (if perhaps not slavishly authentic), as long as you can get past the bad grammar of the name.

I heard great things about Cantina Loco. Havent been there yet, but on the list.

Just read todays, 6/22 Gusto and they had a mexican place in medina, NY. They really spoke highly of it. Mariachi de Oro.
