I am still a junior in high school and I am taking a second accounting course right now. I am planning on majoring in Accounting and I'm still deciding what college or university I want to make as my top choice. Monmouth University in New Jersey? I do not think I will be able to afford tuition and other fees for New York City colleges so I'm looking for colleges close to nyc.

My point is, what college should I go to for the best accounting preparation to live in nyc. Also, will being an accountant help me afford to live in Greenwich Village? Or anywhere else in the city for that matter? Quite frankly, I prefer advice from experienced people. Thanks for your help!

No, if you want to live comfortably in the Village you need to choose a more lucrative career. Otherwise be prepared to shell out over 50% of salary on rent alone. Go to Columbia or NYU. There really aren't any other reputable schools that are close to NYC. Maybe Princeton and UPenn, but that's far.

I don't think I am able to afford schools like Columbia and NYU right now. How about Hunter?

Depends on what you want to do. Entry-level accountants don't make enough to live comfortably in the Village.

NYU is cheap, but Columbia meets 100% of demonstrated financial need. I went to a school with a $45K / year price tag but due to financial aid, it ended up being cheaper for me to go there than to a state school.
