Now that is just a lie.

It is sunny most of the year, but don't kid yourself. Winter still sucks.

Agree with Mike. Winter is brutal. Chinooks help us survive it, but they're not perfect--sure, a chinook may melt everything, but then, a snap freeze turns all that melted snow to ice. Good luck driving!

Still, southern Alberta is extraordinarily sunny. Summers are warm and lengthy, and the sun sets quite late--I play more golf in Alberta than I ever did in Ontario. Even now, in August, I can get in nine holes after work, and will be able to do so into September.

Secondly, 90F days are not unknown in Calgary in summer, if a little rare. Thing is, Calgary is a dry heat--Boston, with its humidity, would seem a lot hotter. Calgary is also a dry climate, so 90F-above or 30F-below doesn't seem quite so hot or cold respectively, as it would be in Boston or Toronto. Humidity is always a factor; one cannot look at just temps.

Calgary in mid-July is a lot hotter than 65F. I don't know where you got that temperature figure, but as one who has sweated through more than a few Calgary summers, I can assure you that the AC is working from May to October.

As for being afraid of the ocean--likely, the kids had never seen such a large body of water before. Alberta has lakes, but they are small, without tides. Are Colorado kids afraid, or at least wary, of the ocean? Iowa kids? Nebraska kids? Suggest you do a lot more research before you conclude that children from a landlocked state or province are afraid of the ocean.
Calgary is cold period. My wife and I spent a couple weeks there at the beginning of August 2005. It was 53 F when we arrived at 2:30 pm. There were only 3 nice days out of the 14 days we were there. Most of the time it was cold to cool and a lot of rain.

To the OP

You must have something that in my opinion is the closest thing to a death wish (little exaggerating just to make a point ) ...I spent one winter in Calgary for work....never ever again, no way Jose it is freaking cold, sometimes I had to be well protected just to walk few hundred yards. Nice and friendly people though...I'll give Calgary that much...sunny and beautiful scenery (especially in summer) once you hit the Rockies which are very close.

Again....from Cali to Calgary?? Seriously?? Are you crazy??

Let me just ask you...why?? There are many other alternatives in the US to the Bay Area.....

I think that you are an OK guy but please don't call California "Cali". That is a definite no no just like calling San Francisco "Frisco". Cali is a city in Colombia.
