Their methodology is the best Ive ever seen because of its singular focus on the quality of academics.

Its not just that, but they are all in the top 50. California has 10 of the top 50 universities in the country....

The cluster of quality universities in California along the Eastern Corridor are why these areas will continue to lead the country economically.

Its absolutely crazy how many Americans are rooting against these areas for ideological reasons, if they fall so does America as we know it.

Basically.

The Coasts are always being hammered by the flyover folks for whatever reason, but they fail to realize how much we really really on each other. Ive stated in the past that a growing segment of the GOP is increasingly anti-American and quite treacherous in their rhetoric.

Didn't take long for this to turn into another political bashfest from the left.

Interesting list, but strikes me as a bit flawed.

80% of the ranking is based on publishing and research, not teaching. And it seems almost totally focussed on hard science, not the humanities, law or medical school or business (No wonder CA does so well ). The survey reflects the UC's spending on and facilities for scientific research. UCLA is a fine schools, but it does not rank above 2 Ivies. And having UCSB ( aka Stoner U) and UCSD ( aka Surfer U or Bikini U) appear so high is also a bit much.

Not increasingly, the conservatives have been against everything good in America, including the Revolution (they were loyalists) and the Constitution (Conservatives of the day opposed the Federal Constitution and were in favor of the Articles of Confederation) The list may start here, but it is a lengthy list of anti Americanism.

I've always read that Stanford and the UC system are some of the top universities in the world. Don't think that's any surprise given the amount of medical and scientific research done at them - plus the huge number of foreign students that study at them. Just hope the UC doesn't suffer a "death by a thousand cuts" in these hard economic times.
