Hi All- we're a couple in our mid 30s from SF with a 9 month old, plan to have more kids and want to buy a small place in Lake Co for use on summer weekends as the kids get older. Don't want to spend more than 60,000. What's the best place in Lake Co to buy for that price? Just want a weekend crash pad, would love it if it didn't get broken into when we're not up there. Would like to be close to the lake if possible.

Anyone else do this type of thing recently? What has been your experience? Want a place where kids can experience "real" summer temps and swim/bike/hike/fish. My husband spent summers in Clearlake and loved it. We just got back from 4 nights in Clearlake and loved the weather. The city is pretty run down but we'd consider it b/c the property is so cheap- just don't know much about the other areas around the lake. Thanks!

Hi, we are happy to hear about people wanting to have the CL experience as we love it! After 40 years in Mendocino we tired of the fog and cold and bought a house here for the warmth, thinking it would just be a weekend house. But while we remodeled our house we found we never wanted to return to Mendocino! So 3 yrs ago when we retired we moved here full time and absolutely love it! We live in the hills of CL so we overlook the lake. Plus we have breezes which make the heat much more pleasant. CL has great prices, especially if you can find a foreclosure you like. Our realtor and friend could help you - Beth Turman 707-295-8351. We are encouraging all our friends to come here, hoping to improve the area. Especially artists! There is so much opportunity here.....it is like stepping back in time.....which we also love. Oh, and CL is on the right side of the lake as far as exposure is concerned. We face south so we get sunrises and sunsets. Good luck!
