And look... Only one from Texas. I guess that's because your average new job in Texas pays less than $10 per hour.

Look, I'm glad there is still a place like Texas where poor people can go and still live a semblance of the American dream even on a crappy Walmart job. Every country needs places like that but what is really sad is how they keep trying to bad mouth the truly successful people and places simply because they can't afford them because too many successful people with money have bid things up beyond their $10 per hour means. That's just envy and as you bible belt folks should know that's one of the seven deadly sins so give it a rest already.

Funny, there are a lot of highly profitable companies in this area, but we residents know the real richy-rich people that run these live just outside of this area (the peninsula, i.e. Woodside, Hillsborough). Many of the rest of us have a bunch of salary/wage earners under each roof.
Well the cutoff at $191k is essentially the pay for two tech workers with not that much experience. So there are a lot of households like that in Santa Clara County, you have to talk about earning $300k and above to live in Palo Alto or Los Altos, areas on the western part of the county, and even more to live in Woodside. Most of the peninsula is not that rich when you compare it to Palo Alto and vicinity (exc EPA). Notice though we are not anywhere near the top when you use median as the measure.

Then they'd be counted in:

4. San Francisco - Oakland - Fremont

since that MSA includes San Mateo County.

I just assumed that is what he meant, that we are stuck with the well off enough to buy a house group, while the rich live in San Mateo County, I was trying to argue that Santa Clara County also has it's areas for rich people, though no Atherton like city. Admittedly I also think we have plenty of middle income people commute from the East Bay to Silicon Valley, so that could also skew the numbers.

It should be noted that the CA metros on this list combined are home to well over 20 million people. Its not just a few counties here and there, lest anyone think otherwise.
