I know several from the Philippines that are nurses that have sponsored family members that are also nurses...

I don't know all the parameters of how they made it work.
You already said how:

How the pharm rep made it work: he was married to a born US citizen, and she was his sponsor.

How the Philippine nurses made it work: they were sponsored by relatives here who had became citizens or green card holders.

None of these routes to a work visa apparently apply to the OP.

There must be unattached US passport holders in the UK

Or maybe a genealogy search will turn up a long lost relative?

Both German speaking RN's originally came to the Bay Area as Au pairs.... one had completed her Nurse training and wanted to try living in the States... her host family was a widow with 3 young daughters... and yes... she married him and are very happy.... she was 24 and he was 7 years older at the time.

Filipinos have been immigrating to the USA since the 1900s. the surge of Filipinos nurse and Indians the past 10 years was the result of allocating unused visas to be reallocated to nurses due to shortage. and these visas already expired so back to the regular immigration process.

it was really crazy during the shortage. Agencies like O'Grady Peyton paid all expenses for these nurses. they paid for airfare, reimburse expenses for taking NCLEX and IELTS and arranged for their green cards for the nurse and his/her family and looked for apartments for them to settle in. I know one who they even flew business class just so the nurse can come here.

all that in exchange for max 2 years contract and get paid a little bit lower than market rate. many nationalities took advantage for these visas. a british national got his job thru this agency and worked in OC for 2 years then went back to the UK coz he doesn't have relatives here

I am an RN and can only speak about the nursing jobs in socal. The socal area is very competitive with RN jobs. Without a lot of experience I do not think the OP will be able to work in ICU or ED- these two areas require a lot of experience and most hospitals will not take on new grads.

Now, I know you aren't suggesting visa fraud, like for the OP to marry a USC to come to the US

To sponsor by virtue of a family member, unless one wants to wait an eternity, it needs to be a USC/LPR's parent or child. Siblings take about 12 years.

No... thinking falling in love as the couple I mentioned... she lived all of her life in the UK except the first 4... fell in love and married and when the dream job in Santa Clara came up... her passport made it possible.

Husband and Wife 7 years prior to moving to California... she can still do a wicked Texas Accent and impeccable British one too.

I seem to find the opposite true... Californians falling in love with Swiss, German and Austrian Nationals who when it starts to get serious return to Europe.

Each year I would host young people from Austria... they love their time here... some said it was the best ever... when it comes time to settle not a single one stayed... even though several had Green cards... said it was just too hard here when thinking of raising a family...

Since OP is from Wales,UK, she would not be eligible for the lottery. However, it's possible (but not likely) that the demand for immigration from the UK will decrease by the time she graduates.
Thanks for reading through the site and pointing out the UK information. Good catch.
