Thinking about relocating from SW/PA to some place in Cali, kinda interested in Bakersfield, because it seems to be a little more laid back than most of the costal parts of cali. I use to do long haul way back in the early 90's, from PA to the west coast, but have since then, i've been out east. Now in my 50's the winter's really bite, and now looking to move west, just curious my outlook on some good companies in the Bakersfield area. Thanks

Are you only interested in Long haul trucking? Bakersfield has a ton of opportunities in vac trucking oil and oil produced bi-products.

I wouldn't expect a lot of open positions right now though due to the current low price of oil.

KVS is one company that comes to mind. But there are many more.

Thanks for the response, but not at all on the long haul part, in fact im not long haul right now, I actually do drive. but in the oil and gas industry. I drive what some would refer to as a water bottle, haul water to and from frac sites, pay's very well actually, that is when the fracs aren't scheduled to far apart.

Plus when I said the winters bite, seems like all we get in SW/PA anymore is ice more than snow, I once slid a good 150' backwards down one of the lease rds, until It stopped, then I chained up, then off I went.

but with not having the chance to travel through cali in the last 25 yrs, im kinda getting the itch to head back out, but in any event one of the other companies which haul water, is Advantage Tank Lines, and they're website shows they have a terminal out in Bakersfield, so im now in the process of getting my Hazmat endorsement, so I can hop on over to there oil side, and maybe transfer out to cali.

Yeah doing what I do in PA pays around 75K a yr, but the fracing industry is very unpredictable, so I thought id get some perspective on what to expect, if I decided to be a transplant to Bakersfield, CA.

They also use a ton of water trucks out here for dust control on lease property. Producers are required to mitigate dust disturbance.

I travel all over Bakersfield and always see trucking companies hiring. Look into the oil industry, I forgot the names of the companies but know they are hiring. Indeed.com and craigslist are actually good websites to look for openings.

I work in the oil business. There are three major haulers that I know of that are based in or have large bases in Bakersfield running fuel trucks. I'm sure all are always looking for help.

Cox Petroleum: 661.371.2443
Williams Tank Lines: 800.767.9873
Schwebel Petroleum: 661.324.0728
