If a southerner was to move to California, where would they move to if they wanted to find a city (or town) that feels the most like home?

Bakersfield?
Porterville?

These come to mind as have a "ruralness" culture. Agriculture and petroleum based economies??

You'd probably hear a lot of this dude's music too

Seal Beach has a small town feel near the pier; but where I live very heavily suburbanized (Buena Park).

Uh, I don't know, I never really been to a small town-y place inside the state.

Chico has the feel of a sleepy/laid back town [w/ huge trees everywhere & creeks w/ frogs. The university is nearly half the population so there's night life/art/sports. During summer the heat is repressive but dry & cooler nights than nearby towns[Red Bluff & Redding

leimert park area feels "southern" with lots of bbq, louisiana style food due to the huge amounts of black ppl that came fr texas and louisiana fr the old days. the inland empire cities in general feel like the soth to me with their conservative tilt and their wider open spaces.
