That's because CA makes everything. Everyone anywhere owns at least one thing from CA. Whether it's an Apple or Google.

And those Texans can hate on California all they want. But I guarantee that No Californians would wait this long for something out of Texas.

Texans waiting hours trying to enjoy a piece of California.

Would have been faster had they just move to CA like most well off Texans do!

And they did the same thing with NY Shake Shake that recently opened up. Texans know that Texas has nothing going for them but plain tex-mex so they happily ride the coattails of real major cities such as NY & Cali because they have nothing of their own going for them and they know it. Which is also why they welcome other major city based business with open arms.

Texas is improving due to the influx of out of state businesses and not on the strength of their own merit which no doubt makes CA the superior state as they don't necessarily need to beg for handouts in order to survive.

Location is a big factor when attracting talent. While many companies may be moving to places like TX or KS for cheap land, low/no tax deals, looser environmental regulations and promises of cheap labor, places like the Silicon Valley will remain a center for startups, innovation and location for large companies to expand their presence. Even Trump realizes this and that is why he is meeting with Technology Giant leaders. Its important for the Federal Gov't and US Military to collaborate with these leaders if we are to remain leaders on a global scale both economically and militarily. Yep and the proof in that is a large percentage of the Toyota plant workers declined the relocation to Texas and took a severance package instead.

People really underestimate how important the quality of life impact is when choosing somewhere to live. Those that can afford to utilize the amenities that are offered in CA wouldn't dream of going anywhere and if they did, Texas certainly wouldn't even be a consideration.

So do liberals flock to desirable places...or does liberalism grow out of and make places more desirable?

I would argue the latter. Why is Florida looked down on? The Central Valley could be an amazing place. Etc.
