We (husband and self) would like to move to Redding area. However, I just noticed on checking the fracking maps that there are about 120 well sites in the adjacent county Tehama. Anyone know of Shasta county fracking wells, or plans to have them? It's getting progressively harder to avoid the fracking activity, especially as we like to drink the water and breathe the air. Is Redding a healthy place on the planet? Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you looked up the weather reports for Redding, the annual temp. charts for the 12 months of the year? It's over 100 degrees for several months.

They have been fracking all over the country since the 1860's.

Maybe you should worry about something more impactful.

I agree, I'd worry less about fracking and more about the heat, and it is the most oppressive heat I've experienced.

It's ever so easy to live in fear. I don't recommend it!

The air and water quality here is amazing! I've lived in many cities across the US and the smog and pollution is terrible. Consider Redding a small down nestled in the mountains and surrounded by lakes. There is next to no pollution here and you won't find a better spot in California. Redding isn't perfect but neither is ANY town in the united states.

Crime is higher than the National average and pollution is:

Not bad but above the US average. Obviously it changes from day to day, both above and below that rate.
