Immigrants or illegals? Nobody is against immigrants. People are against lawbreakers though.

Quite the slant. I seriously doubt the US Forest Service is employing illegals. If they are here legally then no real story huh. Citizens don't want their houses to burn down.

In typical LA Times fashion they try to twist the narrative into Mexicans helping those intolerant, xenophobic, Trump-voting white people in Redding. The fact they are immigrants has nothing to do with illegal immigration in this country. No one has an issue with people here legally.

Conservative county != anti-Latinx

There is a large Latinx population in most "conservative" Northern California rural counties and has been forever. Everyone seems to get by fine.

Wait until the L.A. Times discovers convicts can also work as firefighters.

This.

They conveniently never clarify the status. Typical LA times race baiting.

LA Times has a pro illegal migrant bias. They think that if they put out stories like this without qualifying those Mexican immigrants by their status (almost assuredly legal) they can sway public opinion in favor of those here without documentation. Kind of an "Oh look, those magnanimous Mexican immigrants are saving those old white Trumpsters". The fact is its all hands on deck right now fighting fires in the West. As someone mentioned we have convicts working the fire lines along with firefighters from Australia, New Zealand and many areas of the country.
