Like others have said, don't worry about it. You will still have fun. I tend to think of the morning marine layer as adding to the whole beach experience. By the time the early afternoon rolls around, it will all clear out and you will get to enjoy the sunny/hazy beach vibe you are likely looking for.

Have fun!

I've never heard of June Gloom and I've only lived here 60+ years.

If you live anywhere near the coast, June Gloom is a recurring conversational topic every year. But if you're more than about 20 miles inland or on the other side of mountains, it disappears. It's completely possible to have not heard of June Gloom if you live in the majority of California where it doesn't exist.

Several of the places the OP is going don't have it. And as others have said, Cambria and San Francisco are prone to cool, gloomy days just about any time, not only in June.

I grew up along the CA coast and June gloom was a normal part of life. The funny part it is probably one of the most crowded months at the beach from all the tourists from around the world. I've said many times to visit during the spring and fall when its sunnier and less crowded. But most have their vacation plans set in advance regardless with everyone else.

The areas will still be beautiful. But yes, there will be some cloudy days along the coast. If you get some sun go out and enjoy it. It may be the best day to go to the beach. The weather will vary like rolling the dice. You could have 4 or 5 cloudy days in row followed by sun. See the current weather now along the coast as an example:

If you’re lucky. I lived at the beach in San Diego for over 20 years and you can easily go a week without seeing the sun in the afternoon, especially along the water to 4-5 blocks inland. Even when the marine layer does burn off you’ll still have an overcast day more days than not. Some years are better/worse than others.

You may get some cool days, especially in no CA. but certainly not in Palm Springs, probably not in L.A. and not likely in some of the other places.

As for not calling it Cali: it is just a short name that people do not like, Cali is in Columbia I think, and is not a stare. It is like called San Francisco Fresco. Frisco is a city in Texas and not in CA.
That is definitely not true, along the immediate coast at least. You can go multiple days or even weeks without seeing the sun some years on the SoCal coast during May Gray/June Gloom.

As long as the OP wasn't planning on laying out in the sun on the beach it's not that big of a deal. It's not really cold but not warm either, just very blah weather. I hated it lol. I always felt bad for tourists who would take beach vacations in June.

Yosemite will be stunning. Anything inland - Palm Springs, Sequoia will also be fine.

Coastal fog burns off at 10am and returns at 2pm in San Francisco.

The one that MIGHT be affected the most by June gloom is OC, especially if you wanted nice warm sunny days at the beach. If you are visiting Disneyland, then it will be nice and cool for you.

The rest of the locations will be fine.
