Those harbor seals are quite friendly.
Sometimes they like to goof around and tug at your fins when you are diving.
They have spooked me a few times when I wasn’t expecting them.
We have some in the PNW that like to follow you around when your kayaking.

They don’t have the meanness or territorial issues that sea lions can have and I’ve never heard of one biting anyone so it just seems out of character to me.

That said, I don’t think I’d want to try and pet or touch one.
Not saying that that happened but I just can see that not ending well.

I had one would follow me kayak fishing and every time I'd stop it would try to haul out on the front of it.

Seals aren't usually dangerous. But this was an amusing story nonetheless. I lived near the beach and my dog would bark at the sunbathing seals sometimes.. It wasn't good... They would argue for little bit and finally the seal would go back into the under the water were the dog couldn't follow him.

Would rather be bitten by a raccoon than a seal or otter. You’re almost guaranteed to have serious infections if you get bitten by one.

Not me.
Trash Pandas are pretty darn nasty.
They can eat the grossest diet and still thrive.
There is a reason for that.
I’d rather take my chances on something that eats fresh fish and gargles with salt water.
Best not to try to pet either one though .
