Why are some of these towns being placed with San Francisco? Like Atherton?

The truth is if you're lower or middle class in California you're still richer than pretty much the majority of the country, and if you're wealthy in California? you're in the top 5% globally. It's why many middle class Californians are being priced out but once they go to a cheaper state they're instantly considered wealthy. The point I'm making is that literally everyone in California is high income even the lower income people in comparison to the rest of the country. If you're making below 80K you will not survive anywhere in California, period

Not necessarily true. It depends on the individual's situation.

I think the Bradbury mention is incorrect. The Bradbury adjacent to Azusa is not very affluent. Google says it's avg income is $65K.
Bradbury is a pretty wealthy area. How it ended up between Azusa and Duarte, I’ll never know.

Since Orinda is also listed, I'm guessing the Sleepy Hollow listed is the one in Marin County rather than the Sleepy Hollow portion of Orinda.

I think the ones placed with San Francisco are considered by the Census Bureau to be part of the San Francisco metro.

McSwain too---!
My aunt and uncle moved from Los Altos Hills to the Del Rio, CA CDP (that CDP is the area around the Del Rio Country Club, north of Modesto) in order to be closer to their mountain house (which was in the Blue Lake Springs (Country Club) HOA near Arnold). They trusted my cousin so much that they left him alone in the Los Altos Hills house for his Senior year (so he could finish all four years at Saint Francis), and then sold it after he graduated.

When they made that move, the Del Rio CDP was the most affluent CDP in the Central Valley, but it looks as though the Bakersfield Country Club CDP now has that or may have that designation.

Bradbury is actually in the foothills north of Duarte. And Azusa is about an equal number of miles east of Bradbury as Arcadia is to the west.

One could say the same about how Rosemead ended up next to San Marino, or Claremont next to Pomona...

One of the most untrue statements I've read on the California forum. Where do you get your data?
