California Central Coast Health Care
Hi,
The central coast is on my list to visit for possible relocation. Any thoughts on the adequacy of the local health care situation? I am thinking specifically of say the San Luis Obispo, Atascadero or Pismo Beach area.
Although, Morro Bay looks nice also.

I posted this on the other thread where you asked also but I'll add it here so it doesn't get lost.
San Luis Obispo County doctors and hospitals get reimbursed at a lower rate from MediCal/Medicare and many insurance providers than other areas. The Central Coast is considered rural which typically means low cost, but that isn't true along the coast.
Given the higher cost of living with a low reimbursement rate the area is not as attractive to doctors, particularly new doctors with high medical school debt. That means that there is more of a shortage of doctors in the area.

Tons of Info for you
Check out this site when you get a chance. It will probably let you in on your doctor info, more than any other site for that matter.
CentralCoastHealthSource.com
I think it was just relaeased, but I know it has all the doctors where you are looking and many of them are rated. Good luck and I hope this helps you.
I am jealous, the central coast is one of the most beautiful places in the world, yes I said the world

Is anyone looking to relocate their medical practice or extened-function medical school to Pismo Beach? If so, I know a brand new state-of-the-art facility with 25,000 dividable SF. All or portions are available. Pricing is below market value, easy freeway access, 30,000 drive buys per day. Anyone interested?

I find no shortage of doctors and doctor specialists on the Central Coast, the quality of living makes up for perceived drawbacks.
I thought it was pretty silly to build that Pismo medical building without the assurance of tenants. Somebody must be eating that construction loan.

Very good medical care in SLO. French Hospital is the absolute best, Sierra Vista is good too. Cuesta Medical Group rocks
We lived in Orcutt in northern Santa Barbara county, but would go to SLO for medical and dental care.
