My daughter (17) and her friends, (23, 19, and 24) are traveling to Del Mar, CA for a concert. I was wondering how the crime was there, in no offense, im a little worried about it being so close to the Mexican border. They will only be staying for 2 days and we've made sure they are in a well-known hotel. If you have any info, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I'm sorry to laugh, but Del Mar is one of the safest small cities in California. You have little or nothing to worry about.

Also, Del Mar is about 35 miles from the Mexican Border. It's not exactly "close".

I wonder if the Del Mar residents should post on City-Data to determine if their community will remain safe with a bunch of teenagers showing up for a concert.

Well, if you're in Del Mar, you'll have to watch out for the low lifes in La Jolla.
