Ok here's the scoop. There are specific areas for specific things. I'd like to see people talking about our great city Edmonton however no one seems to go on the Edmonton threads. Why is that? As a Canadian or Albertan, what forums most interest you and why? Or is it there are more U.S. members than Canadian on this site?
This is an American site, so Americans outnumber...probably any other country by 20-1.
As for the Canada section, I just stick to the general main board.
For the rest of the forum, I like aviation, automotive, history, and watching people completely lose their minds in P&OC.
X2..
But for a change of pace, I sometimes scoot into the health section and click on the 'health insurance' link to read about the terrible stuff they deal with regarding that particular debacle of a system and to gain a renewed appreciation for ours.
Overall the Canadian Forum, including Vancouver and Toronto. Edmonton...not really. I've been but I don't have much to say that would be worth anything.
Also P&OC, Urban Planning, World Forum, CityVSCity, and occasionally Great Debates.
I have gone on to the politics one a few times and I see stuff I could comment on but think I better not as I'm not in the U.S. Some topics are good and informative with intelligent discussion while others not so much.
I think if you want to have discussions about Edmonton you might need to get the ball rolling yourself by starting some specific topics about it. If other people are interested or familiar with Edmonton and what you're posting about they will probably respond.
The CD forums that I'm mostly interested in reading and posting if I feel I have something relevant to contribute are the main Canada forum and Canadian sub-forums, World Forum and its sub-forums, Current Events, Politics & Other Controversies, Gardening, Nature, Photography, Rural living, Self-sufficiency and Preparedness, the main Religion forum and its related sub-forums, Weather forum. Those are the usual daily go-to ones for me although I sometimes skim through the many other forums on the board and will read something different if an intriguing topic title catches my eye.
I've created my own customized forum here on C-D which includes, in one place, all of the threads in my daily go-to forums. It's a time saver and easy to set up:
- go to "My Settings"
- scroll down the left column and click on Subscribed Forums
- select your favorite forums and sub-forums
- save your selections
This way you never have to visit those forums individually to see new threads or updates of existing threads. Just look at the C-D menu at the top of any page, click on "Subscribed Forums" and there are the threads.
I'll drop by the Montreal section then the Canada section then the Tampa Bay section then the Florida section, then i'll click on "New Posts" and reply to any topic of interest.
I also enjoy watching the "live Forum Preview" at the very bottom of the page and jump in if i see something interesting.
I used to frequent the P&OC section quite a bit but not so much anymore as the content is mainly about hate and delusion and the endless obsession with American politics..
The Edmonton section i rarely go to unless i see a topic worth commenting on which isnt very often.
Thanks for the heads-up about P&OC, I do love a good controversy lol.
Btw I'm pretty new here as well. Hello!
