The question was essentially - how will Canada manage financially in a post-fossil fuel civilization? The real issue is more like, what will Canada sell as a trade resource on the global market to bolster the Canadian economy and bring the dollars in when fossil fuel dollars aren't coming in and fossil fuels are no longer a trade item in demand on the global market?

Yes, and my reply about Quebec was twofold: Canada will rely more on Quebec's massive hydro-electricity production for both, use, and trade. New York already purchases much of it as an energy resource.
Once fossil-fuels become near-obsolete, I'm thinking the rest of the country might just have a light-bulb moment and realize that Hydro-Quebec could save the economy.
