What's your opinion? I read a local story that stated people in my province didn't realize they weren't already paying it, then BAM!...

April 1 hits and sh1t...everything just went up. Food, gas, public transit...I dunno...So how did you folks deal with it? Is this fair?

I don't know how other's deal with it. I knew that B.C. has already been paying carbon taxes for 11 years. Apparently it's a successful and unique program: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britis...bia_carbon_tax

Nothing you can do....scheer there must be something you can do

I’m all for less pollution...tighten up standards/thresholds....etc...
but no need for another tax ....that’s just a cash grab

Not supposed to be. In theory, it is revenue neutral for the government.

It’s meant to change citizen behavior through economics and not by straight-forward regulation (whose cost is actually passed down to the consumer). The average person is supposed to get his/her money back through tax filing. If you spent less on gas, and carbon-intense activities, you come out ahead.

Not meant as a cash grab. Whether it is actually effective is the question. It's not as if most of Canada is flush with public transit options.
