Has anyone experienced an Amica quote where the rate increases if your average annual mileage is over 10,000? I was told that if I drive more than 10,000 miles/year, then the cost for a 12 month policy would be an additional $200.
Well, it's pretty normal that the insurance company wants to know how much exposure it has. A person who drives 24,000 miles a year is twice the exposure of someone who drives 12,000 a year.
Yes, I understand why they'd want to consider the average driving mileage. Makes me wonder why Amica's price break fell at 10,000 miles for my state. I wish the cutoff had been at 12,000! I don't think all car insurance companies include mileage as a factor for reduced rates, though?
It depends on the carrier. Some simply classify vehicle use as Pleasure, Commute, Business whereas others have Commute <10 miles and Commute >10 miles. I can only assume that the carriers didn't find a statistically significant difference between an 8- and a 9-mile commute.
^^ I know I'm going to check this with my Carrier, Travelers.
My current commute is only 1.5 miles each way. I need to make sure they have that figure.
