DH is having a hard time breathing today---very windy and icy cold weather so I guess that is a part of it. Also he has had a lot on his mind as we have an appointment in the not to far off future to set up all the legal things for his wishes in the end. Lots of people do it and have it done earlier in their lives but this is really getting to him. Wish he'd just try one of his anxiety meds--I know it would help. But he is one stubborn person and it will just have to his idea. At least he has them here! I think tomorrow with visiting the grand children will take his mind off of a lot of this sad stuff! How can anyone look at a child with all of their innocence and not just melt!?! We won't stay long so he doesn't get worn out but long enough to get a good dose of lovin' and hugs! Hopefully he will be able to eat a bit of that good Thanksgiving feast but if not he can for sure eat the potatoes and at least fill up a little! I'm excited to go. I guess his son has decided he'd try to get by my sons house to see his dad but will not be coming on the day after Thanksgiving to spend a Thanksgiving with his dad as he said he was going to do. I know that news broke my DH's heart but I don't think it was a surprise really--just very very sad. No matter--we will have the best of the best with the best of the best and with small children who could ask for more? Happy Thanksgiving to all!
I wish you and your DH a great day tomorrow.
I'm sorry about his son not being around that much. It sounds like he doesn't know how to deal with his ailing dad. It's sad because one day he'll regret not making time for him.
Big hugs.
I am caregiver for my wife ( late stages of ALS ) but I am retired.
I can not imagine the workload ( and stress) of being a caregiver plus earning money thru either a job or self employment.
It must require a real " juggling act "
My wife Margaret ( age 68) passed away at 7;15 this morning due to ALS
She was diagnosed in March of 2011 with a slight speech problem.
Since today is Thanksgiving, I am happy that her soul is now laughing ,talking, singing, walking, dancing in heaven while her paralyzed body left for the funeral home.
Please remember Margaret in your prayers and I will forever remember everyone with ALS and their caregivers in my prayers.
I am crying right now. I am so sorry for you loss. I have been following your posts. Sending prayers to both Margaret and you. Lots of hugs to you. (((((Doug))))

Oh, Doug....I'm sorry for the loss you've experienced over these past 2 years, but grateful Margaret is free. I will gladly think of her and you, too. She will be with you in spirit from now on. I'm with smilinpretty....hugs.
Doug......my sincere condolences on the passing of your wife, Margaret. It really can be thought of as a release and a passing to a better place and condition.
