What to expect? She is old, 18+ and just diagnosed. She is taking the once a month capsule, CCNU. She is doing ok with it, eating and all the usual stuff, active and out with the others, but she has lost weight.

I've had many cats but never one with cancer. I am wondering if there is anyone who has had a kitty with this and can tell me what to expect.

My vet had a cat with this type of cancer live 2yrs on the CCNU treatment. I don't believe my old girl will last that long at all.

Any experiences?

Thanks.

Very disheartened to hear this at any age, & though I can't offer alot now as I'm exhausted, if I ask my sis when I can about her lymphoma cat that I think she had yrs ago I'll relay what I can. I'll pray for you & your Kitty as I know this is tragic to hear at any age.

My heart goes out to you as I know EVRYONE else's on here does as well. May God Bless you & Kitty, & protect you both from any pain & suffering.

I too am sooo sorry you have to go through this. As others here know I've been through much heartache with my kitties since this past May. My Twirpy sadly passed away from Lymphoma. She had IBD most of her life. She'd been on various diets (grain free) and always had bouts off and on with Diarrhea and Vomitting. Finally this past May she was diagnosed with Lymphoma which rapidly spread from her Intestines to her Lungs within 6 weeks. I really don't want to scare you at all! But I am a firm believer in being prepared for the worst so that if things are better than I expect I'm then overjoyed. Currently my Pinky has bone cancer and will have to have his leg amputated...but I had already done a lot of research so I was prepared for it. Doesn't make it much easier emotionally as I'm a wreck right now.
In your case - I would just take it one day at a time. Don't think ahead! And just keep giving her the treatment as long as she is responding to it. Good Luck to your girl! {{{{hugs}}}}

Sorry I don't have any experience with this in cats, but hope your kitty does okay. She sounds like a fighter with her age.

Thank you all for your support and kind words. Yes, my old girl is plugging along so far. I am giving her anything she wants to make however long she has the most enjoyable for her. Even though she has had a great and very long life, it is still heart breaking.

I have had many kitties and it never gets easy when you have to say good bye.

I am sorry for all who have lost a pet. I have and will always cherish my connection and sympatico with the animal world.

My heart goes out to you. I think the best advice is the one-day-at-a-time advice you've already received. I am sending my love and best wishes to you and your sweet baby girl.

I'm so sorry. One of my kitties was just diagnosed with lymphoma yesterday. I would also be interested to know what CCNU is. I should be speaking with the oncologist later this week.
