this is a particularly worriesome topic for me.... i worry about what to specify for my own critters....
the little dogs, roxie and chico, would be FINE going into a foster for a rescue and i'm fairly certain, would be adopted quickly....
bailey and dave, however, would most certainly NOT do well in a foster home situation, unless they were the only dogs.... and i don't see that very often.... and a shelter would be ABSOLUTELY out of the question for them.... even though the shelter i adopted both of them from is a no-kill facility and takes their adoptees back for any reason at any time..... i think my charlie-chubby-cat would have to go back there.....
i have no children, no husband.... only one brother and nephew who live nearly a thousand miles away from me..... and i don't know that i would trust either of them, my brother in particular, with this sort of responsibility.....
my friends all have pets of their own and not really able to take on more..... or they are not "pet people."
what to do ..... what to do.....
i think about this ALL the time.... i am prepared to make a will, if i can come up with some sort of solution to this dilemna.....

The animal shelter in my town has a deal where if you are able to leave them a bequest, they will take care of your pet for the rest of its life or adopt it out if you so direct.
I had a small annuity for which I am making them the beneficiary should I die before I cash it in. My sisters don't need any money I might leave behind; they are quite well-off. As my younger sister said when I told her about this, "Leave it to the cats!"

Of course, if their services aren't satisfactory, you get your money back!
