I decided to post this here instead of the movie forum because I doubt if anyone on the movie forum would remember this. It was a 30 or 60 minute film we got to see in school back in the 1970s. It was about a family who went on vacation and left their cat home alone.
The only talking in the film was at the beginning when they were leaving the house. The cat had his room on the back porch which was connected to the kitchen. They filled his bowl with 2 days of food and he went to sleep in his box near the back door which had a little swing opening for him to go in and out. He was awakened when a large dog stuck his head through the opening and gobbled down all his food.
The whole movie was seen through the eyes of the cat as he was roaming around outside in search of something to eat. He was chased by dogs and got soak and wet when yard sprinklers came on. He was eventually caught by animal control and put in a cage.
I'm trying to find the name of this film, or at least find out if he was reunited with his owners because I can't remember.
Now you have me interested...hope he got back to the owners
Don't know movie, you think it was a Disney??
No, It was one of those Independent films. Probably made for education purposes.
Whoever trained the cat and dog did a great job, especially the way it was filmed, almost like the cat had a small camera on his head.
While I was looking for that film I came across this one titled " The Sick Kitten " made in 1901 and is considered the oldest cat video ever made. I thought it was interesting.
You could try PBS. I remember seeing a lot of short indy films there in the 70s, along with a lot of animation. And you can try the movie forum; you never know.
