I have been researching and trial and error on this with my cat. She seems to throw up when I feed her certain foods and fine if I stick to the good foods. My cat seems to work well with a grain free high quality food. I also have the added problem that all of a sudden she only wants seafood! Ugg. Does anybody have suggestions for foods that are good for throwing up and tasty. She also seems to want to change flavors on a regular basis. BTW she is almost 17, but, since I switched to better food and give her wet with a back up of high quality kibble she looks really good. Her coat is smoother and doesn't tangle and knot like it was for a little bit of time.

The subject of diet is a BIG one. Feeding her a grain-free quality wet food is a great idea. However, I would not feed seafood flavors regularly, as fish can be problematic for a lot of cats.

What have you tried? Some good, grain-free brands are Evo, Wellness (make sure the label says grain free, there are five GF flavors I think), Nature's Variety, Natural Balance (limited ingredient diets only). There are many other brands too.

If she refuses the food, you can try warming it slightly, or adding a little "topper" like chicken baby food.

LOL...I just warmed up her food a little bit and mixed it with chicken and she wouldn't even touch it. I have been using Avo Derm and Blue Buffalo mostly. She eats just a tiny bit, so I feed her every time she requests it and I'm home.

Has she had blood work? At her age the onset of stomach issues can be an indication of disease, including, but not limited to, kidney disease.

It's normal for cats to prefer a variation in their diet. Son don't we all.

I do need to have her checked again. She has had vomiting issues on occasion for at least half of her life and she had test etc. but that was awhile ago. The earlier tests were all fine, but, like I said that was quite awhile ago.

Yes. At least once a year after they turn 10. Every six months once they get to 13 or 14. And kidney failure doesn't show on blood work until the kidneys are 75% gone, so, even if there was blood work less than 6 months ago, when symptoms start, it should be done again.

A urinalysis will be helpful too.

All paws corssed for her.
