A bittersweet story.
The cat was originally a gift to a girl and her family from the Animal Rescue League in Iowa. The cat was lost 14 years ago.
Recently an animal control officer picked up a stray cat and brought it to the ARL. The microchip in the cat was traced to an address (a home which had become a business). The business owner was able to forward the information of the previous owners to the ARL, and was able to contact the girl and her family.
Sadly, about a week later the cat passed on. I like to think that the cat found his owners after all these years and finally was at peace and able to let go.
