(sorry, I am going to sound a little stereotypical!)

I have one girl and one boy and there is no denying that she is a she and he is a he. Bolo’s a typical teenage boy – running through the house without a plan, leaving a trail of downed items in his wake. And Gracie is so much the princess, every step and jump is so thought out. If she were human she would be sitting up straight, hands in her lap with legs perfectly crossed. And Bolo would be sitting next to her with one hand down his tighty-whities and the other on the remote control. She does the sexy, slow eye blink and he squints just before he pounces on my tummy.

Perhaps it is just mental since I know what their sex is but even my friends and family say – yeah, she’s definitely a girl/he’s definitely a boy.

Do your cats persona mirror their sex or is it just the opposite?

Rusty is one of my boys - he sounds just like Bolo. Tissy is the only girl and she sounds like Gracie. To me, they both look their part.

Tissy has her very own pillow to lay on while on the couch (she also sleeps in what I call the "Princess Palace" during the day). She is very small and dainty. She is verrrrry pretty (and knows it).

Rusty, on the other hand, would sleep on a pile of trash in the middle of the floor if given the opportunity. He's like a bull in a china shop and honestly, not very smart.

I have/had 2 examples that would be the opposite. My senior mancat Stormy (RB 2015) was a very graceful and confident cat, was rather laid-back and had a very regal manner about him. He was that way his whole life. He was the Alpha Male and he didn't have to work at it. The other (younger) male and all 5 females in the house loved and respected him. He never raised a paw to any of them. He didn't need to.

On the other hand, my ladycat Angel would be the opposite. She was a little he!! raiser as a kitten, and she never completely grew out of it. She's the biggest of all the girls, and while she doesn't throw her weight around much, she does like to push their buttons once in a while. She's always been the one to get a case of the Zoomies at all hours of the day or night, and has the annoying habit of blocking the doorway leading to the litter boxes, so the other cats have to deal with her to get by. She's a player, and toys don't last long if she takes a liking to it. She's always reminded me of a rambunctious tomboy with way too much energy to burn, and is pretty much still that way today at age 13.

I really think it has more to do with personality/temperament/etc., than it does gender. But that's just my opinion. To almost quote a famous movie "kittens are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get".

And that's part of the fun.
