I'm not a big believer in coincidence, and you may be onto something with the Baytril. If that's what caused his problems, we can only hope those effects are temporary. I've had Vets downplay medicine side-effects before too, and they never convinced me. Like people, all cats are different and side-effects will vary from cat to cat.
Hope Chewy continues to improve. Give him a pet for me.

Ok, we had Lucky's vet visit yesterday and they gave him Azthromycin for his sneezing and runny eyes. Have to give it to him for about 3 weeks, not daily, just every 3 days.

While there, I discussed Chewy with the vet (new guy, not our usual female vet). He said the Baytril might have triggered something but felt it might resolve itself as time goes on. He looked at his chart and test results, and confirmed that all the vitals are great and Chewy is basically a very healthy cat.

The past 3 days have been GREAT with Chewy. He is pretty much back to his old, bad self. He is active, walks quickly around the house, jumps up on counters, butts heads, runs into rooms when the door is opened, and plays in my bath water while I am taking a bath. He did have one spinning episode last night, but it was short lived and we have seen no more of the incidents where his legs were not working well.

Maybe things are getting better on their own. We don't want to jinx ourselves, but he does seem way better.

Glad Chewy is having good days! The Baytril connection might be right-on. I have heard of very strange side effects from that med.

None of this started until he was on the Baytril for 10 days. I would hate to think that me trying to do good for him by taking him to the vet and getting that med might have harmed him. If that is the cause, I hope it wears off out of his system.

Don't beat yourself up if Chewy is his old self again. And he sounds like a really fun guy who's definitely better than when you started this thread. Better the reason was meds, which are leaving his system than something worse.

Yep, he has had a few good days in a row.....just a minor spinning event, but nothing worse. In fact, right now he is laying on his blanket and looking pretty alert, not in a fog, like he had been. All in all, we are pretty happy with where he is right now.

Good news, Don. At least with medicine side-effects, they usually wear off eventually. I was hoping that's what is was. You should have your vet add a Baytril warning to Chewys records, for future reference.

Glad to hear he's better, and I can imagine how relieved you are.
