I can't give mine those fur mice because the first thing she does is eat the tails. Anything with feathers, ditto.

Mine are a rubber band last night. He did break thru it first creating pieces about an inch long, maybe 3 of them.

That should be OK and pass through. The worry is long things that can get stuck around corners and wrap around internal bits, or coarse things that can jam up and cause blockage.

They should make flavorless gum that's good for cat teeth since mine also loves a good chew on a rubber band now and then, though thankfully she's never eaten one.
