For some weird reason, Miss BeBe chews the edges of paper. Corners of magazines, newspapers, plain paper (which she jumped up on my desk overnight to get one). She doesn't chew the whole page, mostly the corners and leaves the shreds on the floor, doesn't seems to be eating them, and it's not every day. Any ideas? She gets plenty of attention and lovin' and eats very well.
This is my precious red boy, now an Angel. he chewed paper edges and cardboard boxes. In the one picture I call his squirrel imitation, he is chewing a crumpled paper ball.
I used to work in human services which consisted of masses of paperwork every time I provided services. One time I had all my paperwork stacked ready to be sumbitted and came home to find all the edges chewed off one side of the stack. I was devastated, two weeks of work! I called my supervisor and told her what happened. First she laughed and laughed, then she told me, if all signatures were intact (they were) she would accept it. Whew.
Miss Annabelle loved chewing on magazine corners. I finally started tearing out those stupid cards and I'd throw them on the floor for her. She'd wrestle them and chew on the - puncturing with her teeth.. I miss my Annie....

Yes... most likely just a kitty fetish, and an overprotective 'mom'.
Being overprotective isn't necessarily a bad thing..... much better than being the opposite.
I don't recall any of my cats ever chewing paper all that much. My wife used to sell Avon and her orders came in cardboard boxes with narrow plastic strapping around them. She would toss the empty boxes in a pile in the middle of the floor, along with those straps, and let the cats have at it. They all loved playing Ambush in boxes, and some liked to chew the plastic straps. Usually they just left little teeth holes, as they couldn't bite the ends off. Kept them busy for a while.
Neither of my girls are chewers, But Sheba does enjoy shredding a newspaper with her claws once in a while. She really gets into it, and makes a big mess for Staff to clean up. But it makes her happy, and that's what matters.
