What type of cat brush would you use for a cat with short, thick and silky hair? I've been looking at them on Amazon and don't want to pay $10 for a "slicker" brush that is also used for bunnies She's slick enough in more ways than one! What I want to do is remove her excess hair as she is fuzzing up my home Thanks much!
I've had some success with a "Furminator." It's expensive, but I found it to be worth it.
I had a big American Shorthair tabby with thick fur that was so thick that he couldn't keep up with self-grooming. Grooming him was a process taking about a half-hour or so, as I'd use the Furminator first, then gentler and gentler brushes, until his coat was nice and even and smooth.
Think of how you groom a horse--first, the rough curry comb, then the gentle dandy brush. The Furminator serves as the curry comb, then the finer brushes are the dandy brushes that remove the hair that the curry comb loosens.
Naturally, my tabby hated going through the process, but he liked the results.
