There's all kinds of products that claim to help with shedding, but I don't know where to start. I have a shorthaired cat, mostly white hair, with black spots. He has covered my apartment in white hairs. It's especially annoying when it comes to clothes.
I've seen online that the furminator is supposed to be this great brush. Does it really work? I've also seen a lot of shampoos and etc that claim to work wonders. I plan on buying the furminator very soon, but any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I use a thing called a shedding tool that I use on mine. I haven't seen anything that gets as much loose fur as that. I have one little girl that will lay there and purr her heart out and let you brush her until she is bald, she LOVES it! I have another that wants to do it herself... those 2 come running to me when I pick the shedding tool up and will sit right by me waiting for their turn. I have another that absolutely HATES it and will attack me when I try to use it on her and wouldn't you know it, she is the one that needs it the most. I have another that don't like it also but will allow a few swipes with it before she will run off.

Owners discuss everything on her forum and she helps save many, countless cats when people follow her experience with all kinds of issues. She's not just for diabetic cats -- all issues!!
I use a fine tooth brush that's actually meant for removing the balling that forms on woolen blankets. If you brush regularly (daily), you should find a difference and also help avoid fur balls that form in your cats stomach.

It doesn't look like much for $35, but it sure brushes off an unbelievable amount of fur. Most of m-i-l's cats come running (happily) to be furminated. Only one hates it. She has many less hairballs to clean up now!
I just used my neighbor's Furminator to try it out and I am going soon to get one. It's amazing! Good for cats and dogs (2 dogs and 3 cast). Worth every penny!
What a little white furball! I'd love it if I could vacuum my cats. Alas, the vacuum cleaner is only one of the many things that freaks them out.
Because our cats and black and white, they give us a double whammy fur-wise. No dark or light surface is safe! So we brush, brush, brush to ease up on the shedding. I'll have to try that Furminator. Looks promising.

I'd love it if I could vacuum my cats. Alas, the vacuum cleaner is only one of the many things that freaks them out.
