Has anyone tried using a Furminator yet? I ordered one from eBay, and will have it this weekend. My cat has short/medium hair with an fine undercoat that sheds like crazy. It's been getting great reviews, so I thought I'd try it.

I have it! Takes away plenty of fur! My Anastasia still looks good though (maybe coz I have to do it bit by bit, since she puts up a fight being brushed). I've heard you have to be careful if your cat has soft fur, coz it can break the hair and you shouldn't over-do it. I haven't had any problems with my Maine Coon though.

Be careful not to over do it....It is great on thick and double furred cats...but with a smooth coat will literally "rip" the hair. It can really do damage on a coat. I can use it on my Maine Coon mix....but it ruins my Ragdolls coats.

I have it-it does a good job-as long as my calico will take it. I am usually brushing then following her around on my knees to remove more fur until she starts biting!

Haha, I've also tried that technique

I adore mine. It works extremely well on my thick-coated DSH, and he actually likes it!

His hair isn't real short or long, it's more like medium, but it's not a thick coat. It's just the fine undercoat that sheds everywhere and in the air. I find his hairs in places that he doesn't even go - like in the refrigerator. They just float, and I vacuum all the time. If not a furmininator, what else I can I use to brush him with to keep the shedding and loose hairs down.

I use a Zoom Groom on the Raggies. It works great...only 1 isn't thrilled with it...the others love it. It does a great job and is gentle on the coat.

When you use it, do you get a lot of hair out? I had an extremely short haired cat that just loved to be combed. Never got much out of him, but he just loved having his back scratched with it.
