Her mother was Loretta Young. Her father was Clark Gable.

Yet Judy Lewis spent her first 19 months in hideaways and orphanages, and the rest of her early life untangling a web of lies spun by a young mother hungry for stardom but unwilling to end her unwed pregnancy.

I saw her obituary in the LA Times yesterday but the picture they printed was taken when she was older. In the photo that the NY Times shows, she's younger and looks so much like her father. How sad that he never acknowledged her.

It's amazing Loretta Young and the studios were able to pull this off as Judy looked exactly like Clark Gable down to the heriditary bags under her eyes and large ears (even though Loretta insisted Judy undergo plastic surgery which was then a painful operation to correct them). From what I read the poor woman was in therapy for years.

I can't believe that Judy only met Clark Gable once in her life and he and her mother wouldn't acknowledge her true parantage for years. Loretta finally fessed up but she wouldn't tell Judy who her biological father was. Gable never did, it seems he "really didn't give a dam" according to Judy.

Sad, sad story.

I remember this well. She looked like both her parents (I see a lot of her mother in her, too). What surprises me is that I didn't realize she was as old as she was.

my grandparents would know more about the works of Loretta Young but over time I've seen a few of her films, read about her, etc.

She seems like a selfish, egotistical biotch to me. Who the hell acts in such a way? I feel badly for her daughter. May she R.I.P.

I'm guessing the family issues is one of the reasons she became a psychotherapist specializing in foster care and marriage therapy.

Interestingly, I watched her tonight in a 50's episode of "Highway Patrol". She was a rather odd-looking woman, did a reasonably good acting job.
