I dont like much of anything Mickey Rourke is in ...movies and frankly he just looks really weird to me . Maybe cause he looks alot like my ex husband . He also plays really twisted charecters and my ex husband was twisted too . So does anyone else not like Mickey Rourke ?

One of the most forgettable actors in history. I never cared for him and wondered why he was a celebrity rather than some used car salesman in some sleazy, low-class section of New Jersey.

Oh well, haters gonna hate. Mickey Rourke is definately an odd guy, not your typical Hollywood actor by any strech. But I think he is actually very humble for an actor, and it takes guts to drop acting for years to take up boxing. It also takes guts to bring his beloved chihuahua to an awards ceremony as his date.

I've liked him in a number of roles, especially Angel Heart.

He used to be good-looking, but appears to have taken the excessive cosmetic surgery route. And I'm calling BS on his explanation that it was all performed to correct boxing injuries, too.

I do like that he has a particular love for chihuahuas, though.

P.S. Can we please chuck the "you're all haters" accusation when posters offer a (gasp!) differing, and solicited opinion?

Yeesh.

I liked him in Angel Heart, too.

My preferred "weird" actor is Gary Oldham. Rourke reminds me of him, but Oldham is much better. Haven't seen much of either actor lately.

Also. where is Tom Sizemore? (Oops, off topic again).

Rourke should do plays. Haven't followed Rourke, but there's apparently no room for him in movies (unless he tries independent ones, or straight to DVD). The competition among middle-aged - and "overdone" - actors is fierce.

he was quite a boxer with an amateur record of 27 wins, 3 losses. i can see how that would mess up your face. i enjoyed the wrestler.

i wonder sometimes how a role in a film can affect people's characterization of an actor. i get this distinct impression from my friend, who i talk movies with, that he does not like charles boyer. and i wonder if it's from CB's performance in gas light? the murderer husband. i can see this happening.
