Why would anybody want to be a celebrity? We are so unkind to them, especially when we see older stars who have had the audacity to age. You mean an 81 year old actress is supposed to still look 35? Of course it hurt a great deal to read all the rubbish people said. I don't blame Greta Garbo for trying to disappear. She was smart.

Kim Novak responds to post-Oscars ridicule: ‘I was bullied.’

I think she was bullied. People on the internet can be cruel.

But that said, I don't understand why she was even on the Oscars. It was so completely random.

internet bullying it's a trademark of the millenial generation, along with texting and being obsessed with selfies

but it had to be people of my generation or older who even knew what she looked like younger. I doubt the 20 somethings paid much attention to her.

Its a sign of the times. In the past it was the gossip columnists who did the damage.

Then again, another example of why folks should avoid botox and the like and just age as nature intended.

She wasn't bullied for being old and not looking 35. She was insulted online because she had so much plastic surgery that she looked like a monster.

She seems awfully insecure about her looks. First she went way overboard with the corrective surgery (and she definitely had more than "fat injections" done), then she read the inevitable negative comments (why?), and now she's eating worms.

At 81, she'd be better served taking the high road. Diane Keaton endured twitter slings and arrows during her Golden Globes appearance but I don't recall her publicly whining about it.

Ms. Novak chose her career and it paid handsomely. No one forces aging celebs to make public appearances. They've been in the public glare long enough to understand you take the good with the bad.

Betty White, Judi Dench, Vanessa Redgrave, Emanuelle Riva, and Estelle Parsons are all accepted by movie and theatre fans.

And more power to them but none were known for their beauty or cast as sex objects like Kim Novak was.
