The Fashion Police are getting rapped by the P.C. Police. Giuliana Rancic issued an on-air apology after facing mounting backlash over comments about Zendaya's hair on Monday night's Fashion Police special episode. And some of that criticism was being leveled by one of the show's own.
The TV personality made a joke about the dreadlocks sported by the 18-year-old actress at the Oscars. "I feel that she smells like patchouli oil... or weed. Yeah, maybe weed." The crowd in the studio laughed, but Zendaya, whose father is black, and plenty of others were offended.
I had never even heard of patchouli oil. Apparently it's associated with hippies. I love locs. I think they're beautiful. Glad she apologized. Guiliana should leave the crude humor to Joan (may she rest in peace).
Anyway, I heard Wendy Williams talking about this this morning. I remember when Wendy would talk about the dirty back pack cliques. Where was the outrage then?

I'm not sure I even understand the comment, so I think the offence was taken only because of Kelly's need for attention.
I think of patchouli as the designated scent of lesbians, not hippies, so I don't get that part, and everyone knows Rastafarians who wear dreadlocks smoke a lot of pot. All in all, I think the comment was sort of funny, not insulting.
I should have added that I find Giuliana Rancic and her husband both media whores as well. Especially when they do ads for Ashley furniture, which I seriously doubt they would have in their own house.

That's a bias and has zilch to do with the issue I'm no fan of hers, but she didn't owe anyone an apology. When I heard patchouli and weed, I thought "hippies."
Black hair can look ridiculous, too (as Whoopi's did when she was carping about this issue). And BTW, if Kelly Osbourne can't critique her friggin friends, or thinks others shouldn't, she should leave FP because it's not the show for her.
